Over 20 years ago, a friend of mine took me to the popular Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach CA. After taking an art class, watching the glassblowers and pottery wheel artisans,  she led me to a toe ring booth. She said she LOVED her toe rings, and wanted to buy some for me as a gift! A long string of people lined up to choose a ring, then were corralled up a set of aluminum bleachers for a fitting. A little spray of windex on the toe, a slight push to get it on, and I was one of the many new converts to the toe ring fad.

How I started the business is a whole other story I will tell another time. But when ToeRings.com launched in 2001, e-commerce and online shopping was a very new thing. I wasn't sure how many people might be interested in buying online, let alone for a toe ring. How would they know what size to order? Are toe rings even a thing? So countdown to launch to my new adventure, I hit the button. And within the hour, there was an order. And another one. And another. 

So the big question here is - are toe rings a fad, a trend, or a more accepted piece of standard jewelry? We are a bit partial, but time over time and year after year, more and more people are buying toe rings. One observation: more men are buying and wearing toe rings than ever before! Toe rings are in. Recently, Julia Roberts made the fashion headlines when she wore toe rings to the Golden Globes. Well if the celebs are doing it, it must be a thing. 

One of the best comments we recently heard from a customer was, "Well I ran out of fingers, so I told my husband I had to start putting rings on my toes". Our customers come from all backgrounds and ages. We see repeat customers coming back for updates when they are getting ready to go on a vacation, or just because sandals are back on their feet. Toe rings make great gifts for best friends, bridal parties, sister get-togethers, mother-daughter, and more. We especially enjoy seeing many long-time customers come back time over time, and you know who you are! 

Trend or End? We think after 19 years in business that the toe ring trend is here to stay.
